THE
PRODUCTION ZONE OF PROSECCO
The production zone is a series of hill chains
- running from east to west - which follow one
after the other from the lowlands to the Pre-Alps,
lying equidistant between the sheltering Dolomites
to the north and the Adriatic to the south-east,
which has a positive effect on the climate and
countryside.
This territory is composed by 15 communities
and covers an area of approximately 18,000 hectares.
THE CLIMATE

The
climate of this zone is well-suited to
viticulture. Considerate relatively homogenous
throughout the area, it is mild and temperate.
There are abundant rainfall, winters are
not excessively cold and summers are not
sultry.

THE ENVIRONMENT
|
The cultivation area of Prosecco di Valdobbiadene
was shaped by the Piave Glacier with its
lateral offshoots and by the subsequent
torrential streams. There are therefore
numerous hills of morainal origin in of
the form of amphitheatres and alluvial
terraces and cones. Soil is not homogenous
in the all territory, however it is characterize
by argillaceous lands and by high calcium
carbonate content. |
